Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 29, 2026  Last Updated: May 30, 2026

ModernHost.co ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what  information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

 ---  1. Information We Collect

 Information You Provide

 - Account information: name, email address, mailing address, and phone number provided during registration  - Billing information: payment details processed through Stripe (we do not store your full card number — see  Section 4)  - Domain registration data: contact information required for WHOIS records and domain registration  - Support communications: messages you send to us via email or support tickets

 Information Collected Automatically

 - Server logs: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps — collected for security and operational  purposes only  - Domain search queries: when you use our domain search tool, we log the searched term together with your IP address and browser user-agent. We use this for abuse prevention (rate-limiting, bot detection) and to improve the product. Search terms are sanitized before storage and are never used for advertising.

  • Performance data: when you load our website, your browser measures its network round-trip time (latency) to our servers and sends us that timing measurement. We log this together with your IP address, your approximate country, and your browser user-agent. We use this to monitor and improve real-world performance across regions, to recognize returning visitors, and for security and abuse prevention. It is never used for advertising.
  • Cookies: we use only essential session cookies required for account login and checkout functionality. We do not  use tracking or advertising cookies.

---  2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:  - Create and manage your account  - Provision and maintain your hosting and domain services  - Process payments and send invoices  - Respond to support requests  - Send service-related notices (billing reminders, renewal notices, maintenance alerts)  - Comply with legal obligations, including domain registration requirements under ICANN policy  - Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to any third  party.

---  3. Legal Basis for Processing (Washington & General)

We process your personal data because it is necessary to:  - Fulfill the contract for services you have purchased  - Comply with legal obligations (e.g., ICANN WHOIS requirements)  - Pursue our legitimate interests in operating a secure and reliable service

If you are located in India, we process your personal data in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). Our legal bases are your consent (given when you register and accept this policy) and the necessity of processing to provide the services you request. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal retention requirements, by contacting us.

 ---  4. Third-Party Services

 Stripe

We use Stripe to process payments. When you submit payment information, it is sent directly to Stripe and governed  by https://stripe.com/privacy. We do not store your full credit card number on our servers. We retain only the last   four digits, card type, and expiration date for billing reference.

 Domain Registries

Domain registration requires submitting your contact information to the applicable domain registry (e.g., Verisign,   ICANN). This data may be publicly visible in WHOIS unless WHOIS privacy is enabled for your domain.

We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party advertising or tracking services. Our only analytics is the self-hosted, cookie-free Umami described above.

 ---  5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. After  account closure:  - Billing records are retained for 7 years to comply with tax and accounting requirements  - Support records are retained for 2 years  - Server logs are retained for 90 days

 ---  6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:  - TLS/SSL encryption for all data in transit  - Encrypted storage of sensitive account data  - Restricted internal access to personal information on a need-to-know basis

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are  committed to protecting your data using reasonable and appropriate safeguards.

 ---  7. Cookies

We use only strictly necessary session cookies and cookie-free analytics; we do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may prevent you from logging in or using certain features.

---  8. WHOIS and Domain Privacy

When you register a domain, your contact information may be required to be published in the public WHOIS database  per ICANN policy. If your domain supports WHOIS privacy, we offer or can facilitate privacy protection services to  mask your personal contact details. It is your responsibility to enable this if desired.
